About Cultural breaks
Culture and Sport go hand in hand: Time for Culture during the 100 years of bauhaus marathon
One of the unique things about this race is undoubtedly the cultural breaks: these are points when the participants can leave the track to absorb culture. There will be thematic tours, concerts, and performances.
In the footsteps of Lyonel Feininger, one of the most recognized Bauhaus artists, participants can enjoy the cultural monuments that Feininger recorded in his sketchbooks in the midst of the lovely Thuringian nature, which inspires art lovers all over the world in the large galleries! In particular, the church in Gelmeroda, but also those in Vollersroda and Mellingen, were among Feininger’s favorite motifs, accompanying his work his entire life.
In these villages, but also everywhere else along the track, the runners will not only be treated well from a culinary standpoint, but they will be able to enjoy incomparable music, as well. Weimar's Reservoir, the home of a music conservatory, and the German National Theater will play as much of a role as the wealth of bands and the off-culture scene that Weimar and its surroundings has to offer.
Please make sure to step on the time measure mat when you enter and leave a location for the cultural break.
